RETURN TO OROPA OF THE PIEDMONTESE PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD

Yesterday’s and today’s stories, memories and hopes

The Sanctuary invites all the Piedmontese people but now living abroad, to “come back” to Oropa”: a “coming back home”, to meet and share stories, tastes and anectodes and live again, with the eyes of present time, places and stories of a past handed down from generation to generation and belonging to all the Piedmontese people, wherever they are.

Therefore, the event which will take place in Oropa in the second week of July is dedicated to people living far from their homeland.
The courage to leave their own homecountry and family, both for need and desire of adventure, the fear of the far unknown, and the hope to have the chance to come back one day… for centuries and decades, for generations of people from Piedmont, migrated abroad, the Sanctuary of Oropa has remained a landmark both for those who still have relatives here, or know to have some, but no way to find them, or those who, unfortunately, have none left.
The program of the event will start on Friday 8th July and will last, through meetings, concerts and stories of personal experiences, until Sunday 10th July, in Oropa. From Monday 11th to Friday 15th we will organize excursions to different places in Piedmont, in particular to the Ecomuseums concerned with emigration.
